Euphoria
'Is superficial euphoria all that remains for us now?'
'Shopping is the last remaining form of public activity.' (Rem Koolhaas)
In the city, one cannot live as an independent entity outside of shopping. The city evolves into a space for shopping, and now even the past and future become objects of shopping. This tremendous vertical desire reaches a certain satisfaction. It is euphoria, an empty satisfaction. It manifests as the sweetness of commodities, an unfillable hunger, devotion to beauty, and a sprint relying on a broken compass. However, we do not view capital as an object of opium. The essence lies in consumption. What is it that we consume?
Every space holds memories, and memories are bound to change over time. A place exists when physical space, flowing time, and memory meet. vurt. accumulates present time by operating as a club on weekends. The performativity of Euphoria meets the sense of place of Club vurt. This results in a multilayered accumulation of present memories through the coexistence of audience and clubbers. It is a collision within a single space. Space is both a task to be solved and a companion in creation. The audience will become clubbers, and clubbers will become the audience. vurt. is two spaces yet one. We will witness vividly overlapping times and discover unexpected meanings.
