In the exhibition The Unrestricted Society, the artists probe into the issues and dilemmas surrounding technological development from different perspectives, such as the way we view digital privacy in the sense of “we are the data,” potential problems with digital surveillance, facial recognition and deepfakes, as well as looking at possible options for alleviating food crises through cloning. Besides, given the intermediary role of technology, the works featured in this exhibition reveal the artists’ attempt at transdisciplinary collaboration. They employ new technologies to explore how artistic concepts can transmute abstract data or contents, insofar as to create unprecedented sensory experiences. Technology has always been deemed a tool to liberate the human race. However, we may wonder whether the liberation it created is genuine freedom or all an illusion. The exhibition The Unrestricted Society will provide the visitors with an alternative way of understanding technology.

'제약없는 사회' 전시회는 작가들이 "우리가 데이터" 라는 의미에서 디지털 프라이버시를 바라보는 방식, 디지털 감 시, 안면 인식 및 딥페이크의 잠재적 문제와 같은 다양한 시각에서 오는 기술 발전을 둘러싼 이슈와 딜레마를 면밀 히 살펴보고, 복제를 통해 식량 위기를 완화할 수 있는 가능한 방안을 모색합니다. 또한, 기술의 매개적 역할을 고 려해 볼 때 이번 전시에 선보이는 작품들은 예술가들의 초학제적 협업의 시도를 보여줍니다. 그들은 예술적 개념이 어떻게 추상적인 데이터나 내용을 변형시킬 수 있는지 탐구하기 위해 새로운 기술을 사용하여 전례 없는 감각적 경 험을 만듭니다. 기술은 항상 인류를 해방시키는 도구로 여겨져 왔습니다. 그러나 우리는 기술이 만들어낸 자유가 진정한 자유인지 아니면 허상인지 의문점을 가질 수 밖에 없습니다. '제약없는 사회' 전시회는 관람객들에게 기술 을 이해하는 일에 있어서 또다른 방향을 제시해줄 것입니다.

I Question 7.0 | digital media, mobile interface

I Question 7.0 is an interactive media art where the artificial intelligence meets and has conversations with its audiences. The project began from a question, “Can human have conversations with AI about art?” Since the very first question was thrown, the AI have evolved by learning answers to different questions from human. It asks questions that does not have a certain correct answer to give us some idea of what art might be. Audience can participate in the conversation via a provided QR Code in I Question 7.0 and post pictures of theirs. The pictures become part of the work as a visualization of images that the AI has appreciated. The I Question 7.0 also throws us a point to ponder that if humans and machines can co-evolve together.

I Question 7.0은 인공지능이 관객과 대화를 나누는 인터랙티브 미디어아트입이다. ‘인공지능과 예술에 대한 이야 기를 나눌 수 있을까?’라는 물음에서 시작했고 AI는 질문에 대한 대답을 스스로 학습하며 진화한다. 관람객은 핸드 폰을 통해 QR코드로 참여하고 I Question과 직접 대화를 나누며 자신의 사진을 올리기도 한다. 관객의 사진은 작 품의 일부가 되어 파노라마로 시각화되고 답이 없는 질문과 대답을 통해 우리가 생각하는 예술은 무엇인가, 인간과 기계의 공진화에 대한 질문을 던진다.
