살토 모탈레, 아름다운 도약을 꿈꾸다 | Dream a beautiful leap

살토 모탈레(Salto Mortale)는 “죽음을 무릎 쓴 점프”, “목숨을 건 도약”을 뜻한다. 불현듯 겨드랑이에 가려움을 느낀 시인 이상(李箱)의 <날개>에서 영감을 받았다. “우리가 원하는 것이 필사적인 도약의 저 너머에는 존재할까?” 그 충동과 행위의 아름다움은 사회적 성공이 아니라, 생의 발견에 새겨져 있다. 꿈, 사랑, 편지, 풍경은 퍼포먼스 텍스트로 선택한 핵심적 은유이다.

The word 'Salto Mortale' means "a jump with deadly risk", "takeoff for one's life.". It was inspired by the short story "the wings" written by LEE Sang, a poet of Korea, in which the desire of flying up was described as the itching at his armpits (for the signal of growing new wings), with a question: "Over the desperate leap, does what we want exist?" The beauty of those desire and action does not lie within the social success, but appears in the pursuit of finding the meaning of life. Dreams, love, letters and landscapes are the fundamental metaphors selected as performance texts.
